Battery Energy Storage Systems
Rhine Capital are currently advising on a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Germany. The project involves several large stakeholders including a global electrical engineering company and a German Government State entity together with several bluechip customers.
Due to the high demands placed upon the European power grids, especially due to increased EV car charging and AI Data Centres, and the continuous introduction of renewable energy sources feeding these power grids (i.e. wind & solar), BESS technology will become more and more important in the coming years to ensure power grid stability across Europe. The recent total loss of power in Spain & Portugal could have been prevented by installing BESS technology within the power grid to ensure balanced power, especially power grid frequency.
